A goalie’s role on the ice is to stop a 6 ounce piece of frozen rubber travelling at a high rate of speed from going into the net! In a fraction of a second the goalie must decide whether to stick, glove, blocker or kick save the puck. Therefore, a quick reaction time is undeniably a quality a great goalie must have. He/she must also be able to mentally prepare for games and in the case where goals are scored against them, be able to hold up under the pressure to keep in the game and get ready for the next. Jordan Bones was able to do just that. He was a solid goaltender who played with Keswick Flyers and subsequently GMHA after amalgamation of our centres. Sadly, he was only a teenager when he lost his battle against cancer. This award is presented to the top OMHA goalie who has displayed outstanding goaltender qualities based on their performance throughout the season.
