Down, but not out.....
After coming off a crushing defeat at the hands of the TNT Tornados in their previous outing, the boys showed resiliency in over coming a 4 goal deficit.....
If the loss to TNT was one of our worst performances of the year, the 4-4 comeback tie vs the Richmondhill Stars would have to be described as our best comeback game of the year!
End of the first period at the Elgin Barrow arena yielded no score this past Sunday, the second period would prove to be much different as the Stars would open up a seemingly insurmountable 4-0 lead on our Blaze. The Stars seemed to score early and often in the second period and you could sense this Stars team who had only 1 win in their last 6 games was starting to gain some much needed confidence. Our boys however, had a different idea on how this game was going to finish.........queue the comeback!
Down 4-0 half way through the second the Blaze added 2 beautiful goals, improved defensive zone coverage and some timely saves late in the second to head into the third only down 2 with momentum on their side. Whatever confidence the Stars seemed to gather early in the second period seemed to evaporate mid way through the third as the Blaze pulled to within one making the score 4-3 with 9 minutes to play in the final frame.
With under 50 seconds to play and the goaltender pulled, the Blaze would tie the game to steal a point from the weary Stars!!
These boys just keep proving to themselves if they come out and compete every shift that we can play with any team in this loop!
