Our entire region has lost one of our greatest hockey volunteers, I am saddened to announce the passing of Sylvia Tremblett today at Southlake Hospital.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her sons Luke and Mark and Mark’s wife Christel during this time.
Visitation will take place at the M.W. Becker funeral home from 4:30 PM to 9PM on Friday, May 25th. The funeral service will follow on Saturday, May 26th at the same location at 1:00 PM.
Donations may be made to Georgina Minor Hockey Association or to The Canadian Cancer Society through M.W. Becker Funeral homes website.
We have truly lost someone that should inspire us all to volunteer. Sylvia and her family have been aware of her condition for a while now but have kept it very quiet and right up to a few weeks ago Sylvia was still attending meetings, volunteering to go to OMHA and Silverstick AGM’s and meeting, agreeing to stay on as a Vice-President of York Simcoe Minor Hockey Association as well as staying on the GMHA Board all while barely having the strength to get around and knowing that her time was short, she was truly amazing and leaves a big hole in our Assocation and will be greatly missed.
Even though Sylvia and I have had differences of opinion in the past we both were able to put our personal feelings aside and continued to work hand in hand together for the benefit of the Association and the kids. She has helped me a great deal and been a tremendous resource and I will miss her greatly myself.
Unfortunately, I have to head out of the country this afternoon and cannot change my plans and will not be able to attend the visitation and cermony but I would ask that everyone in our GMHA family even if you didn’t know her well to please take an hour of two of your time to show your support to her family for this volunteer who has given thousands upon thousands of hours of her time to help you and your family in our community.
Our AA Silverstick Tournament will know be called the Sylvia Tremblett Memorial in her honour, she was a true inspiration.
