What you need to know for GMHA 2012-13 Registration
As you will see, GMHA Registration for 2012-13 hockey season is now available. All three of my kids are now registered!!!! Simply click General Information and follow the cues to register your son/daughter for the upcoming hockey season. Registration is $600 per player and $345 for hockey school players. If you have any questions about the process please contact Katera Mahussier, GMHA Administrator, [email protected].

Why Did Registration go up?

We increased registration by $20 per player this year. We are introducting a fundraising inititative this year whereby once your account is paid in full you will receive a Quick Pizza Coupon Booklet. These booklets sell for $20 each and are redeemable at either the Keswick or Sutton location. The booklets have coupons for free pizzas among other discounts and are valid from June 2012-September 2013. If you have three players registered like myself, you will receive three coupon booklets once your registration is paid in full.

Each season we see an increase in our ice rental cost. This is one of the biggest expenses GMHA has over the season. We saw a 3% increase in January 2012 and will see an additional 3% in January 2013. Our goal is to keep hockey affordable to all in Georgina; but we also must ensure that we are collecting enough registration money to cover our expenses, especially when we see increases mid-season. The Quick Pizza booklets are one fundraising initiative and we will be looking at more throughout the year.

Why do I need to Register now?

We must get players registered now so that we can order our jerseys for REP and HL by early July. If we don’t have a good estimate of how many kids are going to be playing in a given division; we may not order enough jerseys!! Surprisingly, these jerseys do not just “appear” in September!!!!

Secondly, most REP teams are looking at going into an early bird tournament in early September. For this to happen you need an approved roster from OMHA. We must have all the players registered before we send the roster toOMHA for approval and you can imagine that we are not the only centre doing this. Register now.

If I register in July and pay in July do I pay the late fee?

Yes you will pay the late fee!! As per above, we must know our registration numbers by June 30 so that jerseys can be ordered, sponsors for those jerseys secured and ice times scheduled. Not knowing this costs us money and therefore will cost late registrants money.

When do I need to Pay?

Register your player by June 30 and pay by July 31 and you will pay $600.

Register after June 30 and you pay the $100 late fee; pay after July 31 and you pay the $100 late fee (so that makes your registration $700). No excuses, explanations etc. will change this; it applies to both REP and House League players. It is in our POLICY.

You can pay by credit card when you register through the Hockey Canada Website. (I do not believe you can go back to the website at a later date to pay via credit card) However, if you don’t want to pay by credit card now, you can meet up with Katera at the GMHA office and she will charge your card for you. Still, you need to do this prior to July 31 or your registration goes up. Credit Cards are always preferred but you can also pay by Cheque (made out to Georgina Minor Hockey Association)or Cash. Cheques can be dropped in the door at the GMHA office. DO NOT DROP CASH at the GMHA office. Arrange to meet with Katera if you choose to pay cash.

All NSF cheques are subject to a fee and once one NSF cheque has been given, the parent must pay by CASH orCREDIT CARD. No further cheques will be accepted. Players will be removed from their teams for practices/games if their registration is not paid.

Hockey School

Hockey school registration is $345 and that gives you two hours of ice time per week, one hour Saturday and one hour Sunday (some cancellations will occur throughout the season). We would like to have as many hockey school players registered early so that we can order the jerseys (first names on back) and also know how much ice we need to schedule for. Last year we had one of our highest enrollments to date with 145 kids!!!! In order to give the program the necessary resources, we need to know how many to plan for. Hockey School is not subject to the $100 late fee and we will accept registration up until late November. However, if everyone registers late we may not have enough instructors ready or ice available to make the program the best it can be.

Midget and Juvenile Registration

These players can be registered and paid by September 1 without penalty.

If there is enough interest, GMHA supports a Juvenile team so please register as soon as possible so that arrangements can be made for coaching and ice allocation. It would be great to see this take place this upcoming season.

Stay tuned to the website for Midget Tryout dates as they will be posted within the next few weeks.
