Referee Acknowledgements from Referee in Chief Tim Clute
Submitted By Lance Adams on Monday, April 23, 2012
The referees are an integral part of our games. Some recognition follows from Referee in Chief Tim Clute. If you see these guys around, don’t forget to thank them!!

“With the 2011/2012 season behind us, I would like to acknowledge our referees for their hard work throughout the season. Special recognition to all as I feel they did a great job in handling the new head contact rules. I know it was a challenge adjusting to the new rules and interpreting the standards as set out by Hockey Canada. Thanks to all!

This year we had four referees progress to Level 3. Congratulations to Michael Gustaw, Danny Rethoret, Chris Colwill and Travis Welder. Also congratulations to Michael Chilvers who achieved Level 2 Certification.

Adam Whitaker has been selected to attend the Level 4 clinic this year, which is a huge accomplishment.

I’m also encouraging all of our junior officials to stick with it. You guys are showing great progress.

Finally, each year there are roughly 30 officials selected to officiate the various OMHA tournaments at the AAA level. This year Adam Whitaker, Chris Colwill, Michael Chilvers, Danny Rethoret, Michael Gustaw and David Chilvers were all selected. Adam, Danny and Michael Gustaw all went on to handle the Gold Medal games, and David, Chris and Michael Chilvers looked after the Bronze Medal game in their tournament.

Thank you again to the whole GMHA reffing team, and to the coaches and players for your support this year!!“

Tim Clute
Referee in Chief
