President's COVID Message
As many of you are aware, the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) released their updated
Return to Hockey Framework on July 31. This document contains a detailed description
of the various programming within Stage 3 and has been further broken down into five
phases – 3A to 3E.
Based on this information, we are currently in Stage 3A and will remain so until the end
of August. The hope is that we will enter 3B in September.
While this is a step in the right direction, there are still many questions regarding programming and structure for the upcoming season. We anticipate that the Ontario Minor Hockey Association will release further guidelines in the coming days and/or weeks that we will also use to direct us in our seasonal planning. Please note that all decisions will be made in collaboration with and upon the approval of York Region Public Health Units/Authorities as well as The Town of Georgina.
We remain optimistic about the positive steps we are seeing within the province which are allowing a number of activities to gradually resume.
At this point our registration continues to be open with no payment required and we encourage individuals to register if they intend to play this year. This will further assist us in determining ice requirements and scheduling when planning programs.
There are still many questions to be answered, but we anticipate more details from OMHA and the OHF in the weeks leading up to September as this situation evolves quickly. We have been collaborating with our fellow associations Georgina Skating Club and The Georgina Girls Hockey Association to discuss with the Town of Georgina about access to the facilities, dressing rooms and any other support needed to help us implement the OHF guidelines as it relates to facilities.
Please be patient and we will have more information in the weeks to come as well as an update on registration and fees.
Thanks
Sean Whittaker
