Refund Information
GMHA Members

These past twelve (12) months of our hockey program have been less than normal to say the least. With the new rules, restrictions, and guidelines placed on us from all three levels of government as well as the Ontario Hockey Federation and the Ontario Minor Hockey Association, we found ourselves trying to implement a workable program that could get our kids back in the rink and enjoying our game.

Just when we thought we could see a little light at the end of the tunnel we were hit with yet another setback with the announcement of the lockdown. During this time we learned that the Town had removed the ice from the Ice Palace and that it was going to be used as a Covid vaccination centre as soon as it was able.

As such, it is just not feasible to try and re-start another modified season. As a result members will be receiving pro-rated refund cheques.

Beyond the usual costs of hockey which are commonly: Ice time and uniforms, there are numerous other costs that are incurred by a minor hockey association which are not at the forefront, or well known to the entire membership. Some of these costs are (but not limited to): Insurance fees for players, coaches, and volunteers ; league fees (Ontario Minor Hockey Association & York Simcoe Minor Hockey League), administrative costs and bank fees, referees/timekeepers and in 2020/21, the modification of programs. This season after our programs finally started, they had to be modified very quickly in order to comply with new and changing Provincial regulations which lead to the cancellation of the IP program as well as the purchase of more ice time with fewer participants on the ice at any given time.

Every member of the GMHA will receive an email from [email protected] detailing your options for your refund.

Option 1 - A cheque will be issued to the parent or guardian of the player in the amount that they are entitled to.

Option 2 - The refund amount can be rolled over to the 2021/2022 season and applied to next seasons registration.

You MUST reply to the email detailing what option you wish to choose. We hope to have all cheques processed and available for pick up at the Georgina Ice Palace before the end of March 2021. Further details about cheque pick up will be communicated at a later date.

At this time, I would like to thank all the volunteers, coaches, bench staff, executive/board members, and everyone else who worked so hard and tirelessly in order to put this season of hockey together.

We are already in the process of planning our 2021/2022 season and we look forward to seeing everyone at the rink soon!

Thank You,

Sean Whittaker GMHA President
