SMOKING BAN IS NOW IN EFFECT TOWN PROPERTY
Submitted By Ken Jamieson on Wednesday, October 10, 2012
Please be aware effective yesterday the Town of Georgina's new No Smoking Bylaw came into effect.  There is no longer any more smoking allowed at all on Sutton Arena property, if you wish to smoke you have to go out onto one of the sidewalks.  At the Ice Palace you might as well do the same thing as it has been given a NEW Designated Smoking Area but its around the back of the Ice Palace building almost halfway between the gym doors and the skate park so the sidewalk along Woodbine is much closer.

Please note this By-Law not only includes cigarretts and cigars but also includes chewing tobacco and snuff but not nicotene replacement therapy (such as "The Patch"). So for all those teenagers that I understand are currently "chewing" because it seems to be the cool thing to do, it is NOT allowed in the buildings or on the property unless in a Designated Smoking Area either.

Sounds to me like a good time to consider quitting ;), thanks for your cooperation.

If you wish any further information and/or the maps of the Designated Smoking Areas approved by Council, please go to www.geogina.ca or contact the Georgina Smoke Free Ambassador, Simone Williams at [email protected].
