Ernie Godden played for the Keswick Flyers and then moved on to play for the Newmarket Flyers before joining the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL. That year he scored 87 goals and earned 153 points with the OHL which set a record that has yet to be broken. He was chosen 55th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1981. He played 5 games for the Leafs in 1981-1982. This award is presented to the top OMHA player who has demonstrated the same outstanding ability and love for the game as Ernie. The recipient of this award may: • Exhibit leadership to his/her teammates on and off the ice; • Show through points that he/she is a Top OMHA player and has significantly contributed to the success of his/her team
