Deryck Minielly Goaltender Award (OMHA or HL) (Georgina Minor Hockey Association)

Print Deryck Minielly Goaltender Award (OMHA or HL)
Deryck Minielly was a goalie who played with Sutton Minor Hockey and was central to his Bantam team winning the All Ontario Championships in 1978-79. He was a team leader who was looked up to by all the teammates who were fortunate enough to play with him. Friends who knew him say, “he was the goalie you wanted on your team”. Although Deryck was tragically killed in a car accident at an early age, his name is still well known throughout the Georgina arenas today. Each year, the GMHA receives funds from the Deryck Minielly Foundation to put towards our goalie development. This award is presented to a GMHA Rep or house league goalie who has displayed outstanding goaltender qualities based on their performance throughout the season and to whom the following may apply: • Participated in the Minielly Goaltender Training through GMHA • Is a leader to teammates • Committed to continuing his/her training as a goalie • Has made a significant contribution to the team’s success in games/tournaments
