A reminder on how this Banner thing works...
I've had a few questions on this. I'll run through this again.

The Banner has three uses, but I'll run over ALL fundraising as well:

1) We all have to get $1000 to the team somehow at this point. This isn't enough to run the season, but I'm hoping that with "Team" based fundraising we'll have enough to carry through. We pretty much are break even with my assumptions at this point. Nothing is set in stone though. For example, it's very difficult for Lily and I to run "Hockey Night in Keswick" with no NHL season.

2) You have all paid $500 already. I have asked for cheques for $250 for Sept 1 and $250 for Oct 1.

3) Based on a group decision, some fund raising events will only benefit those that participate.

4) The 3 on 3 tournament is complete. Those participating received a credit of $170 each. This knocks your Oct 1 payment down to $80.

5) I will handle the Mums individually. I'll get an accounting from Therese based on orders. I will knock down the $80 or $250 that you owe in October to a smaller number based on individual sales. The Adams family, for example, will likely sell little or no Mums so we won't benefit from this one.

NOTE: These two fundraisers just help out individuals that participate. They DO NOT put any more funds into the team coffers. We still end up with $1000 X 17 = $17,000.00. Obviously we need more money to run the show.

6) We have the $1500 from our jersey sponsor with will go to the team. We'll end up with about $250 excess from Summer skates that will go to the team. If Lily and I can get our Hockey Night in, we'll send that to the team.

7.1) The Banner is first of all a useful tool for those of you that own your own businesses. If you have to contribute $250...or $500 or $750 to the team personally anyhow, you might as well write a cheque from your company and get some advertising out of it so that you can get a little tax benefit out of the business. I will write receipts as required. I won't guarantee that you'll survive an audit, but why not do it this way if you can.

7.2) If you can get an EXTERNAL contributor, you can also credit that towards your total. However, there was a concern in the parent group that some of us have jobs that give us access to potential sponsors, and some don't. For this reason it was agreed that the FIRST sponsor ($250) can be credited against your personal contribution, and the balance for any additional sponsorship goes to the team.

7.3) As as example, my neighbour has always been generous with us and has sponsored the kids. Alora isn't playing rep this year, so he wrote cheques against the banner for $500 instead of $250. I will use the first $250 against my Sept 1 payment and use the second $250 to contribute to the team as a whole. I've also asked Sue to make sure that Canadian Plastics Group gets a double spot on the Banner.

Is this all complex and a lot more work for me (and my helpers)? Absolutely. Having said that, I think it's what everybody wanted. Individual credit for certain fund raisers, payments spread out a little, etc., etc.

It's up to you to get whatever names into the banner that you want. I have no issues writing receipts for contributions to the team regardless of whether a logo is on the banner or not, but obviously we're not going to print several versions of the banner so if you want your logo on there...let Sue know and get a copy to her.

Please track me down individually if you want me to go over this with you.

Thanks all!!
