1) There will be no NHL, Major Junior or CIS contracts handed out to this team this year.

2) This is for the players. Not the parents or Coaches.

3) This team is the 2011\12 OMHA champions. While that is a great accomplishment it will be very hard to repeat this. The coaching staff and players will work hard to repeat but want to manage expectations.

4) How are they going to repeat
• Head coach won’t be on the disabled list to begin the season
• Better discipline in the dressing room and on the bench. Being hard to deal with will have the player sitting for a period.
• Better practice habits. If player doesn’t practice hard they won’t play.
• In August after one of the practices the Head Coach will sit down with the players and set team goals for the year along with the theme. This will provide them better accountability for the team.
• In practice they will be working on skill development and team tactics. Top priority will be a new break out, new penalty kill, skating and small area games.

5) Once practice starts in August it is required all parents make sure that all of their child’s hockey equipment fits properly and is up to standards. If equipment is improper fitting or not up to standards they will not allow the player to participate on the ice.

6) Pay your registration fees on time. Web site is now open and very easy to use. There will be no chasing of anyone this year for payment! If fees are not paid by July 31st then the player will be removed from the roster and that spot offered to someone else.

7) Make sure your athlete’s skates are sharpened when needed and their sticks are in good shape.

8) Show up on time for games, 1hr prior. Once the team practice time is known for the season you’ll be informed how far in advance to arrive for that.

9) Fighting is a zero tolerance on this team. Whatever suspension is handed out by the OMHA the team will match it.

10) Captain and assistants will be picked by the players after they’ve played a few regular season games.

11) Each player’s family was given a Welcome Information Booklet.

12) Each parent was given a wallet size Team Contact Information Card.

13) Coaches Philosophy
• Hockey is a team sport and a team effort is required. They win as a team, tie as a team and lose as a team.
• All successful teams play as one and will not succeed by playing as individuals.
• He asks that you give 110% effort at all times. The amount of effort you put forth during practices and games has a direct relationship with the teams’ success.
• Remember at all times nobody is perfect. Your coaches, parents and teammates except only that you do the very best that you’re capable of doing.
• Derogatory comments made by any player or parents directed towards any player from either team, on-ice officials or coaches will not be tolerated.
HAVE FUN!!!

14) Team Rules and Expectation
• Players are expected to show respect to coaching staff, on ice officials and each other at all times.
• Players are to arrive approximately 60 minutes prior to the start of any game.
• Absolutely no HORSEPLAY in the dressing room!
• Players are expected to attend all practices. Players should be ready to go on the ice as soon as the zamboni is off the ice. If for some reason you are not able to attend, please contact the Head Coach with ample notice.
• No food or drink prior to any game or practice in the dressing room (with the exception of water and Gatorade/Powerade).
• Game socks and jerseys are not to be used at practices.
• Dress Code: dress shirt, tie, black dress pants, black shoes and Blaze jacket. Tournament: GMHA approved wind suit.
• Please remember, our tem consists of coaching staff, players and parents. Our conduct both on and off the ice reflects us a whole.
• Team will purchase Georgina Blaze winter coats this season for each player.
• Those requiring a new wind suit must self purchase. Team Manager will arrange a team fitting for those with Centre Ice Sports.

15) Medical Information Sheet and must be returned to Kevin Bott (trainer) asap. Those forms will be held in the strictest of confidence. If you have any concerns you may place the form in the envelope provided and seal it. The envelope will only be opened by a member of the coaching staff if a medical situation arises. All forms and/or sealed envelopes will be returned at the end of the season.
