Seeing Stars.....
What a great weekend of hockey for our boys!  It started with a great effort Friday night vs the Aurora Tigers.....

It was a great start vs the Tigers as the Blaze jumped out to a 2-0 lead Friday night at the Sutton Forum.  A couple untimely penalties in the third cost the Blaze as the Tigers went on to score 4 unanswered including an empty netter to seal the deal.  A late shot in the dying minutes from Kyle Jessome that hit the cross bar would have surely gave the Blaze their first point of the year but it was not to be.  Regardless of the hard fought loss, the coaching staff all felt something special was happening with this resilient group of boys.
Who knew that a few days before leaving for Lake Placid, where the "miracle on ice" happened almost 35 years ago, the boys would pull off a small miracle of their own!!  Trailing 3 times to the 15th ranked AA team in Ontario 2-0, 4-2 and 5-4, the Blaze left the boys from Richmondhill seeing stars with a thrilling 6-5 victory!!  So many breakout games to mention, Jack Mayo put on a scoring clinic netting his first hat trick of the young season, JJ Russell back checking like a maniac, Arpie and Cap'n Hicksie blocking shots in the dying minutes, 5 points including two goals from the backend, and a huge save with under 30 seconds to play by Austin Millard to preserve the victory.  Every player on the team contributed in some way to this first win of the season!
The coaching staff has told the boys all year that we belong and can compete with any team in this loop if we give it all we got!  Pump your chests up boys, you deserve it!!  Bring on Lake Placid!!
